Motorboats : New V78 passes first sea tests with flying colours

The excitement surrounding the soon-to-be-released Princess V78 is increasing as early sea trials suggest her performance will be every bit as exhilarating as anticipated. Even when fitted with the smaller Caterpillar C32 engines, the first hull achieved (as yet unofficial) maximum speeds in the upper end of the original design estimates. With the option of more powerful CATs or 1,800 MTUs, the newest member of the V-Class range promises to be a real flyer in every sense of the word. The V78 is the first Princess hull to benefit from resin-infusion moulding, a highly advanced manufacturing system that brings both superior lamination quality and significant weight savings over conventional methods – estimated at as much as three tonnes in this hull. The yacht has now returned to the workshops for final finishing and the first V78 is on schedule for delivery in February.
