The National Hardcourts 14u is being held from the 8th - 12 at Scarbro Tennis Centre, Auckland following the final round of the National Teams Event 14u.
Today's second round matches saw four seeds upset. In the boys Northern's Sam Matheson was knocked out by Jacob Carey in a tough second round match. The first set went down to a tiebreak going Carey's way and the Waikato-Bays player grabbed the second 6-3 to seal the match.
It was the same for Canterbury's Finbar Argus, thirteenth seed who went down to unseeded Sam Piercey (Wgtn) with the same score line.
In the girls there were two big upsets from Southern players. Eighth seed Kirby Wotherspoon (Akld) was knocked out in three sets by Georgia Hume (Sthn) 7-6;3-6;6-3, meanwhile Sian English (Sthn) beat ninth seed Leah Woods (Cant) 2-6;7-5;6-0.
