Tennis : CLEAN SWEEP FOR NEW ZEALAND FED CUP TEAM IN ROUND 1

The New Zealand Fed Cup Team made up of Marina Erakovic, Dianne Hollands, Kairangi Vano and Shona Lee have had a successful first day in their 2009 Fed Cup campaign, defeating India 3-0.

Hollands and Erakovic started the day in the singles with convincing straight set wins. Holllands defeated Rushmi Chakravarthi (IND) 6-3 6-0 while Erakovic, playing in the number 1 position, won against Ankita Bhambri (IND) 6-3 6-2.

In the doubles Vano and Erakovic took on Ankita & Sanaa Bhambri (IND) with the kiwis denying India any points in the rubber by taking the match 6-2 6-3.

The New Zealand Fed Cup Team is in Pool A along with India, Indonesia and Uzbekistan.
