Events: Firm, Clear And Decisive Action Plan Required For London 2012 Olympic Ticket Strategy

Responding to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) ‘Beijing Debrief: Lessons learned from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games & Paralympic Games’ press conference on 27th November, Joe Cohen, CEO of Seatwave, the UK’s biggest fan-to-fan ticket exchange says:

“Following the Beijing Olympics this year we know that the issue of ticketing for the 2012 London Olympics needs to be a priority. We must ensure access and opportunities for anyone wishing to attend or get involved in the 2012 Games. We cannot let what happened this year in Beijing with Beijingtickets.com happen again, when fraudulent tickets and empty seats left thousands of people disappointed. LOCOG and the IOC need to face this issue head on and ensure that the UK stadiums are full and fans are confident they’ll receive the tickets they purchase.

I believe that through a legitimate and controlled resale market we can avoid empty seats and ensure fans wishing to attend the games are not let down. It is critically important for the success of the London Olympics that LOCOG looks into possible solutions to eliminate this situation”.
