It was a good day for players North of the Harbour bridge on the first day of the main draw of the Fuji Xerox NZMT2 being played at Scarbro Tennis Centre. Anton Bettink, Kyle August (pictured) and Marco Comuzzo all won two matches to move through to matches against seeded players on Thursday. They will be joined by Auckland's Adam Lee who powered past an out of sorts Jamie Eccelton who had earlier scored a fine win over Martin Colenbrander.
Hawke's Bay player Kate Parker had a good day winning both her matches comfortably to reach the third round of the Configure Express circuit event as did North Harbour player Christine Foote. The other two women to reach the third round are Tiffany Wheelock from North Harbour and Aucklander Olivia Isbey.
Play begins at 10am on Thursday with third round matches followed by the women's quarterfinals at 1.30pm and the men's quarters at about 3pm. The top four seeds will be in action at the quarterfinal stage.
