Golf : Tapton Tees Off Redevelopment Programme

Work is underway on a major refurbishment project at Chesterfield’s Tapton Park Golf Course.

Leading leisure provider Sheffield International Venues (SIV), which operates the pay and play golf course, is investing £170,000 in a series of improvements.

The ten-week programme has started with the redevelopment of the function room and will also involve upgrades to the clubhouse, locker room and other course facilities.

Tapton Park is the only pay and play golf course in Chesterfield and has more than four hundred members, which includes a thriving ladies section and junior section.

Andy Carnall, SIV’s golf manager, said: “We are committed to providing members of the public with a first class golfing facility at Tapton and this is the latest in a series of plans to improve the experience.

“Since taking over operations in April last year, SIV has already implemented an ongoing ground maintenance programme, which is making a huge difference to the quality of the course, particularly in the winter.
“This latest investment will really enhance the facilities available at Tapton ready for the start of the new golf season.”

SIV is one of the largest sport, entertainment and leisure groups in the North of England operating 14 venues in Sheffield including Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, the English Institute of Sport – Sheffield and iceSheffield.

It also runs three other golf courses in Sheffield – Tinsley Park, Beauchief and Birley Wood, which combined with Tapton Park deliver 200,000 rounds per year.
