Recently crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year, World, Commonwealth, and Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy knows all about setting goals and taking on challenges, even when they might seem impossible to achieve. That’s why he’s encouraging anyone looking for a challenge to sign up for one of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s wonderful events next year. The charity is launching its 2009 events programme; Rise to the Challenge and Chris is proud to be the face of it.
Chris said; “Rise to the Challenge has something for everyone both at home and abroad; from treks in the Peruvian Andes to walking in the Lake District, as well as abseiling at some of the UK’s most stunning sites. And of course, my favourite, cycle challenges such as Cork to Dublin or the Canadian Rockies, so if the cycling doesn’t leave you breathless the scenery certainly will!
So no matter where you are, what your age or ability, you can get fit and get active with Marie Curie Cancer Care. And what makes taking on these challenges all the more worthwhile is that the money you raise from them will make it possible for people who are terminally ill to be cared for and spend their last days in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by their family and friends. I have had personal experiences of cancer within my own family and understand the huge difference this choice can make.”
Marie Curie Cancer Care is now recruiting for a number of different challenges such as runs, walks, cycles and treks to name but a few taking place in 2009. To take part check out www.mariecurie.org.uk/challenge or call 08700 340 040.
