league : SATURDAY NIGHT DATES FOR VODAFONE WARRIORS’ FIRST TWO HOME GAMES IN 2009

Auckland, New Zealand, December 19, 2008 – Saturday night games are on the menu for the first two home games of the Vodafone Warriors’ 2009 NRL campaign.
In releasing full details for the first five rounds of the draw, the NRL has handed the Vodafone Warriors a season-opening 7.30pm clash against Parramatta at Mt Smart Stadium on Saturday, March 14.
That game is set to provide major individual milestones for captain Steve Price and Kiwi World Cup-winning prop Evarn Tuimavave.
Price – who’ll then be 35 – is poised to become only the 11th player in history to appear in 300 first-grade games when he leads the team out that night while Tuimavave will become the 13th player to make 100 NRL appearances for the Vodafone Warriors if he lines up.
The match will also be a homecoming of sorts for new Parramatta coach Daniel Anderson, who guided the Vodafone Warriors in 92 games from 2001-2004.
In round three the Vodafone Warriors will be back at Mt Smart Stadium for another Saturday night match, this time against Brisbane with the chance of new signings winger Denan Kemp and standoff/centre Joel Moon having an early outing against their former club (along with second-year Vodafone Warriors centre Brent Tate).
In their first two away games the Vodafone Warriors have Sunday afternoon matches against 2008 NRL premiers the Manly Sea Eagles in round two (March 22) and the Newcastle Knights in round five (April 12).
In round four the Vodafone Warriors face South Sydney in a Sunday afternoon match on April 5.
The Vodafone Junior Warriors will again play their NYC matches as curtain-raisers at the same venues as the club’s NRL side.
