Marine Industry : Global Promotion for Sanctuary Cove Boat Show

Plans are forging ahead for this May’s 21st Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in Australia.

The world-class Show has confirmed world and Australian marine launches and is extending global marketing. The 21st event is staged Thursday, May 21 to Sunday, May 24 at Sanctuary Cove in Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Sanctuary Cove Manager Events and International Relations Barry Jenkins is attending the Mumbai International Boat Show with Trade Queensland in February, visiting the Dubai International Boat Show for the first time in March, scoping the market and speaking to potential buyers at the Moscow International Boat Show in April for the first time and then attending Shanghai’s China International Boat Show.

“Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show attracts buyers from around the globe,” said Mr Jenkins.

“We’ll be putting a major focus on our ongoing international marketing particularly in a more challenging economic environment,” he said.

“We want to spread the message that manufacturers are working to bring some fabulous boats and marine gear to this Show.”

The 2009 Show has drawn already some announcements of exciting world and Australasian debuts from exhibitors in the lead-up to the May event.

Allan Barnett Motor Yachts is launching its High Seas 63ft at Sanctuary Cove. Built in Tasmania, the 63 is built to the same high standards of the 58. This new model offers extra deck length behind the saloon and a wider swim platform.

Perry Catamarans is showcasing the Perry MS-59, a motor-sailor version of the acclaimed Perry 57.

Maritimo is launching worldwide the Maritimo 56 Cruising Motoryacht, an imposing flying bridge motor yacht. The company is also displaying the Aegean 60, Aegean 55 and two smaller versions of the C60 Cabriolet - the C55 and C50 Cabriolet models.

Another prominent Australian company, Riviera, is releasing the new 5800 Sport yacht and 3600 Sport Yacht Series II with Volvo Penta IPS in world launches. The Riviera 5800SY is a centrepiece of the largest on-water display at the Show covering nearly 4000sqm. The display encompasses a range of Riviera Open and Enclosed Flybridge models, the 43 and 48 Offshore Express sport utility vessels and the complete range of sporty yachts.

For smaller power boats, there is the world launch of CJH Yachts’ 26ft Sportsfisher. Shipwright Chris Headley spent three years researching the project after talking to professional game fishermen, skippers and enthusiasts. Using naval architect Peter Hogbin, the company has designed the vessel as a day boat with fast capabilities to reach offshore fishing grounds. This trailerable vessel features a Carolina flared bow to keep passengers dry and a deep vee hull and return chines.

Southern Clipper Boats is launching a power/auxiliary sail catamaran with the project title of Southern Clipper 31. It showcases a revolutionary new boat building system conceived by Col Clifford of Compucraft. Featuring a frame of round and square aluminium tube, the cladding of the boat is Polycore, a polypropylene honey comb cell which is impervious to rot, fungus and sunlight.

And there’s the Australasian debut of the Hunter 27 Edge while by exhibitor US Yachts who is also displaying the Hunter 27, Hunter 45CC and Hunter 45DS at the Show.

Charter Yachts Australia is showcasing the new Lightwave 45 Grande, currently in production and built by Queensland company Lightwave Yachts.

Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show General Manager Mark Jensen said the Show would offer engines and marine products of interest to the marine industry such as new products from Fixtech, ATL Composites and Furuno.

“Seapower Australia is debuting the new generation MAN V8 and V12 diesel engines while Raymarine Asia is launching its new A Series range of chartplotters/fishfinders in Australia at Sanctuary Cove.

“We’ve had keen interest from the industry and this year’s boosted pavilion display space will offer a superb display backdrop,” said Mr Jensen.

The 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show features extended pavilion displays at the entrance to the Marine Village while the Super Yacht pavilion has more than doubled in size. This year, this pavilion features an engine-related display with robust flooring for heavy exhibits.
