Motoring : Lord Drayson Champions 1,000mph Bloodhound Motorsport Project At The Autosport International Show

Lord Drayson Champions 1,000mph Bloodhound Motorsport Project At The Autosport International Show 16 Jan 09

The star attraction of the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) stand at Autosport International last week (NEC, Birmingham, January 8-11) was the actual Eurofighter jet engine that will power BLOODHOUND SSC, the 1,000mph World Land Speed record project of Richard Noble OBE to be driven by Andy Green.

On Friday January 9th this breathtaking programme was the subject of a well-attended press call by Minister of State for Science and Innovation, Lord Drayson. He talked of how BLOODHOUND SSC will be used to inspire and encourage future generations to adopt careers in engineering, science and maths. He also expounded on the technical challenges it holds for Britain’s much vaunted high-tech industries – in particular the motorsport and aerospace sectors.

Said Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA, “Britain responds to such calls to action like no other country. It is really motivational to our motorsport business community to have such support and encouragement from Lord Drayson. We wish Richard Noble and his team the very best of luck with this project which the MIA and its members will support it in every way possible.”
