Tennis : TEEI PUSHES VANO AT NZMT 7 IN BLENHEIM

Fourth seed Brittany Teei pushed fellow Aucklander Kairangi Vano in the women's semi-finals this afternoon at the Configure Express NZMT 7 in Blenheim.

Vano took the first set easily, but then Teei came back to win the second in a tiebreak. Teei took a 3-0 lead in the third before Vano turned the match to win the third set 6-3.

In the other women's semi-final Dianne Hollands (Cant) continues her winning streak at the NZMT's flying past Shona Lee (Akld) in straight sets to set yet another Vano-Hollands Final.

In the men's quarters, number one seed GD Jones (Akld) had a convincing win over Canterbury's Kenta Naka. While second seed Marcus Daniell (Wair) and fourth seed Steve Downs (Nthn) took out the Leggett brothers, Sam and James respectively. Wellington's Finn Tearney also advanced with a straight set victory over Logan MacKenzie (Cant).

The men's semi-finals are on at 10.30am tomorrow (Wednesday) with the women's final to follow and then the men's final.
