Some lucky Wellington teenagers were treated to an on-the-spot coaching session by Indian star batsman Sachin Tendulkar at Westpac Stadium last week. The young cricketers were joined by Tendulkar in the indoor nets following his practice session with fellow Indian ODI squad member Pragyan Ojha and Indian coaches Gary Kirsten and Robin Singh. Tendulkar was quick to offer plenty of tips and advice and stayed aferwards to sign autographs.
Meanwhile Tendulkar and State Wellington Firebirds' opener Jesse Ryder both turned on the entertainment in the third One Day International between the BLACKCAPS and INDIA in Christchurch on Sunday. Tendulkar smashed 163 off 133 balls while Ryder set pulses racing with 105 off 80 balls.
Interestingly, Tendulkar scored his first ever ODI run at our own Allied Nationwide Finance Basin Reserve in 1990 in his third ODI, after scoring ducks in his first two innings
