NETBALL NEW ZEALAND AND ADIDAS ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP

Netball New Zealand and adidas announced today they have entered into a new three year partnership. adidas will be the ‘Official Apparel Provider’ to Netball New Zealand, the Silver Ferns, NZ Accelerant Squad, NZU21’s, NZ Secondary Schools and the NZ Umpires Squads.

As the ‘Official Apparel Provider’, adidas sees its partnership with Netball New Zealand as a further strengthening of its involvement and commitment to New Zealand sport.

"Netball is a spectacular game played by many New Zealanders and we are thrilled to be involved with such an inspiring leading New Zealand sport", said David Huggett Country Manager - adidas (NZ) Ltd.

“We are very proud of our women’s apparel and are excited to have the opportunity to work with some of New Zealand’s top players and the wider Netball New Zealand team on the design and development of a new range.

“Consultation with athletes is a critical part of adidas’ design and development process. The final product needs to result in apparel that players not only love to wear - but include the latest technology to maximise performance.”

Netball New Zealand Chief Executive Raelene Castle said she was delighted to confirm the new partnership.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Netball New Zealand to be aligned with such a leading sports brand,” she said. “adidas provide a wealth of experience in delivering technical quality and design of clothing which will give our athletes a performance edge on the court. Their knowledge and understanding of sports apparel is an important asset as we prepare our teams for the season ahead.”

adidas are currently working with Netball New Zealand to design a new Silver Ferns match dress and kit which they will be wearing in the International Netball Season, beginning September 2009 .
