With coaches announcing their sides for the first official round of trials for 2009, NRL fans have been given their chance to pick their own ultimate Rugby League team.
The NRL’s official website, nrl.com, has opened registrations for the Toyota NRL Dream Team 2009 competition, the game’s official ‘fantasy league’.
More than $73,000 in prizes are on offer with the choice of a Toyota car pack the major prize.
Fans can choose from the Isaac Luke and Kurt Gidley-like versatility that comes with the Toyota Yaris and Corolla duo, or the Luke Bailey toughness of the Hilux.
Alternatively, fans can choose the blistering Brett Stewart-style pace of the Aurion V6, or the all-round Nathan Hindmarsh-like machine – the Rav 4.
There will also be weekly cash prizes of $750 and a randomly selected weekly $250 bonus for a lucky team coach.
An additional eliminator series will operate from Round 12 allowing 32,000 teams the chance to play against each other in a league of champions with an additional $1000 cash prize to the winner.
The Toyota NRL Dream Team competition will give fans full access to the game’s official statistics on nrl.com while BigPond TV will broadcast team announcements every Tuesday through NRL club websites.
There are bonus prizes for fans who register before March 3, including the chance to win 12 general access tickets to the Telstra Premiership and a cash prize of $1000.
