Snooker Stars To Battle For Crucible Berth

Many of snooker's most famous names will be the English Institute of Sport - Sheffield later this month to compete for a place in the televised stages of the World Championship.

Nerves will be stretched to the limit as the green baize heroes fight for a coveted places at the Crucible Theatre . Only 16 players will go through to the venue, where they will face the world's top 16 ranked players, who are seeded through to the venue automatically.

Among those in action at the qualifiers will be:
* Six-times World Champion, snooker legend Steve Davis
* Two-times winner Mark Williams
* 1997 Champion Ken Doherty
* 1991 Champion John Parrott
* Six-times Crucible finalist, crowd favourite Jimmy 'Whirlwind' White
* Former UK and Masters champion Matthew Stevens
* Up-and-coming star Judd Trump
* Four-times ranking event winner Stephen Lee
* Members of World Snooker's HotShots team, Jamie Cope, Daniel Wells and Michael Georgiou
* Last year's Crucible qualifiers, Sheffield-based Chinese cuemen Liang Wenbo and Liu Chuang
* ....and many more

The initial stages of the qualifiers run from February 25 to March 4, with the final round from March 8 to 10.
The final stages of the World Championship at the Crucible run from April 18 to May 4.
