The National Rugby League, after reviewing submissions from the Bulldogs club, has confirmed that the Bulldogs will be stripped of two competition points from today as a result of the club’s breach of the Replacements (Interchange) rules against Penrith in Round 2.
The NRL received the Bulldogs’ submission to the initial breach notice yesterday.
Those submissions could not negate the fact that the player who had entered the field in breach of the replacement rules had taken a place in the attacking line at the time the match result was decided.
The club was informed late this afternoon that the penalty of two competition points would stand and they will receive written notification on Monday.
All competition tables should now reflect that the club enters Round 4 of the Telstra Premiership on two competition points.
The club has the option of seeking leave to appeal before the NRL Appeals Committee.
Any such application would be reviewed by the Chairman of the Appeals Committee, Sir Laurence Street to see if leave should be granted.
If it were to be granted, an Appeals Committee hearing would comprise Sir Laurence, a nominee of the Rugby League Players Association and a Nominee of the Chairman of the NRL Club Council.
