Finalists announced in Wellington’s Youth Yachting Awards

Twelve sailors have been short listed for the Wellington Yachting Talent Development Programme supreme award. Wellington Yachting Association President Brian Budd said, "Choosing the supreme award winner is going to be very hard this year. We have teams and individuals from the programme who have won national, international and world titles and we have sailors who have been selected into national teams and squads. The selection panel has a tight job ahead of them."

The Wellington Yachting Talent Development Programme is a joint initiative between Yachting New Zealand and Wellington City Council aimed at increasing the number of Wellington youth sailors achieving on the international stage.

The awards will be presented at a lunch at the Michael Fowler Centre on Thursday 26 March. The lunch will be hosted by Kerry Prendergast, Mayor of Wellington, with Yachting New Zealand CEO Des Brennan presenting the prizes. Grant Dalton from Emirates Team NZ will be a guest speaker.

Finalists in the Awards are: Alice Pearson, Carl Syman, Chris Jones, Jackson MacFarlane, Josh Junior, Josh Porebski, Matthew Clough, Matthew Steven, Rowan Swanson, Sean Syman, Stacey Swanson and Tim Coltman.
