New recruits Sam Tagataese and Matt White will make their unofficial debuts for the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans in Saturday night’s pre-season trial match against Brisbane at Wynnum’s Kougari Oval.
Former Melbourne Storm forward Tagataese has been named in the second row for the match while Newcastle Knights recruit White will line-up in the starting front row alongside Ian Donnelly.
The pair, who were unveiled in their Jetstar Titans jerseys today, form part of an extended 26-man squad named for the trial match by coach John Cartwright.
The squad also includes former Broncos hooker Ian Lacey and teenage sensation Jordan Rankin.
White, who hails from Inverell, said he was eager to impress at his new club after being thankful for the opportunity to sign with the Jetstar Titans.
“My career was probably on the line (last year) so I know I’ve got to have a big year,’’ said White.
“It should be good, I’m looking forward to the weekend.
“Everything has been good. The boys have all been great, I’ve been getting on well with everyone and I’m loving it up here.
Wellington born Tagataese, who lived with Brisbane’s high-profile new recruit Israel Folau when the pair played together at the Melbourne Storm, said he was looking forward to taking on the Broncos.
“I’m pretty happy and I’m just keen to play. I haven’t played since September so I’m pretty keen to get on the field,’’ said Tagataese.
“I feel a lot stronger than last year.’’
