Skateboard : August Date For Thrilling World Cup Event In Eastbourne

The World Downhill Skateboard Championships return to Eastbourne for the third year in 2009 and this year takes place a month earlier than usual from 21-23 August.

Go Fast! Speed Days promises extreme speeds of 60mph in Eastbourne’s newest adrenaline-fuelled event as downhill skateboarders, luge racers, inline skaters and gravity bikers race down the super fast road at Beachy Head. This year the event will take place in August and organisers hope to see even more spectators pack onto the Downs to witness the downhill racing spectacular.

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said “I am delighted to announce the date for this year’s Go Fast! Speed Days event as it establishes itself as a major date in Eastbourne’s events calendar. The event was extremely popular in 2008 and has since generated interest the world over. Now in its third year, Go Fast! Speed Days, will place Eastbourne firmly on the world map as riders from across the globe come to Beachy Head to take part.”

The Council work alongside the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA), UK Gravity Sports Association (UKGSA) and Go Fast! Sports to stage the World Cup event.

Completely FREE to spectators, the event will again take place over three days in 2009 and riders will be put through their paces in five categories including Downhill Skateboard, Classic Luge, Street Luge, Downhill In-Line and Gravity Bike.

Director of Go Fast Sports UK, Kris Yule said “Go Fast! Speed Days is a great event that provides the world’s top racers, as well as local adrenaline-junkies, the chance to enjoy the thrill of downhill racing. We are very pleased to be working alongside the Council to build on last year’s success and make 2009 even bigger.”

With 2008’s Go Fast! Speed Days generating media coverage across the globe including a spot on the YouTube home page with over 1.8 million views, British spectators will get the chance to witness a world phenomenon this August at one of the country’s most impressive settings.
