McCullum unable to wicketkeep after thumb injury

Brendon McCullum will not be keeping wickets in tomorrow's [Friday] One Day International against India at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.

McCullum took a blow to his right thumb while batting in the Napier ODI, which has aggravated an old injury causing significant bruising.

New Zealand team manager Dave Currie said medical assessment had ruled McCullum out of keeping wickets in Friday's game. "We're hopeful that he will be able to bat. He will have a nets session and further assessment this afternoon to determine whether he will be able to play as a batsman."

State Northern Knights (Northern Districts) wicketkeeper Peter McGlashan has been called into the BLACKCAPS squad as 'keeper for Friday's game.
