ICC WOMEN'S WORLD CUP BECKONS FOR OUR WHITE FERN CRICKETERS.
White Fern's Captain, Haidee Tiffen says her side has waited nine long years to have the opportunity of winning back The ICC WOMEN'S CRICKET WORLD CUP.
Australia prevailed in 2005 in South Africa, five years after The White Fern's clinched the symbol of supremacy in International Women's Cricket out at NZC's Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Lincoln, December 2000.
Haidee Tiffen [ the only survivor from the winning side in 2000 ] believes her side has worked hard over a sustained period of time to prepare for this 2009 campaign and she highlights the recently drawn series with Australia [ 2 all] during February as proof of the progress made by The White Fern's.
Tiffen admits top seed, Australia will be tough opponents to knock over on home soil, India are the tournament's second seed, The White Ferns third and England are ranked fourth.
Australia, The White Ferns, West Indies and South Africa make up Group A, while Group B comprises of India, England, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
After a three match preliminary group round, the bottom side from each group play-off for 7th and 8th and a Super Six competition commences with The International teams taking with them points accumulated in all previous matches.
The White Fern's campaign begins by taking on host nation Australia at The North Sydney Oval on Sunday, March the 8th.
