VODAFONE WARRIORS TO TAKE ON GOLD COAST WITHOUT JONES

Veteran halfback Stacey Jones will miss the Vodafone Warriors’ third and final NRL trial when they face Gold Coast in Lismore tonight.
The 32-year-old had 40-minute stints in each of the first two build-up matches against Melbourne and North Queensland and he was due to share the halfback’s duties with World Cup-winning Kiwi No 7 Nathan Fien against the Titans.
However, a calf muscle niggle has ruled him out, Vodafone Warriors coach Ivan Cleary declaring there was no point risking him at this stage of the year.
It means Fien is now likely to share the halfback’s role with new signing Aaron Heremaia, an Auckland Vulcans regular last year.
Coming off the bench tonight will be ex-Cowboys back rower Jacib Lillyman in his first appearance for his new club. He is now fully recovered after having off-season shoulder surgery.
