Bailey to notch 150th game against Dragons

Jetstar Gold Coast Titans co-captain Luke Bailey will play his landmark 150th NRL match when he takes on his former club St George Illawarra on Saturday night.

In a fitting achievement, the Shellharbour junior will reach the milestone at the very place where his career began when he leads the Jetstar Titans’ into battle at WIN Stadium, Wollongong on Saturday night.

Bailey, who made his NRL debut for the Dragons in 2000, said he was excited to be reaching the milestone against his former club despite feeling as though it was a little overdue because of several injuries throughout his career.

“I think the milestone probably should have come a year or two ago, I’ve had a couple of injuries,’’ said Bailey.

“But to come up against the Dragons should be good, it’s made a bit more exciting for the likes of mum and dad to get down there and have a look so hopefully it’s our first win down there.

“I remember playing back at WIN Stadium, the Dragons love playing there and try to use it as their graveyard.

“It’ll be a tough ask and it’s going to require some good footy but I’m sure we can step up to the mark.’’

Jetstar Titans coach John Cartwright has named an unchanged squad for the match, sticking with the same 17-man squad the registered a gritty 34-20 comeback win over Newcastle at Skilled Park on Sunday.
