Winning the toss and electing to bat first The White Ferns pelted the Pakistani attack to finish their fifty overs 373/7.
Opener Haidee Tiffen and number 3, Suzie Bates broke New Zealand partnership and individual records in their 262 run second wicket partnership.
This partnership established a new all time New Zealand batting partnership record and a second wicket one as well, and it's now the second biggest partnership for any wicket by any team in ODI Women's Cricket History ...only the 268 run English partnership between Sarah Taylor and Caroline Atkins against South Africa at Lords last season surpasses the 262 scored today.
Suzie Bates came in with the score at 34, she hit her fifty off 49 balls, her hundred came up off 81 balls and her 150 off 99 deliveries, the only New Zealander to score 150 ...she was out in the 40th over, caught on the boundary for 168 off 105 balls 19 fours and six 6's in this innings.
Haidee Tiffen, who debuted in 1998-99 has waited a decade for a maiden ODI and today she achieved this, accumulating and unselfishly giving the strike to Bates, previously Tiffen had notched 18 half centuries, her ton came off 127 balls with three boundaries. Tiffen was dismissed on this score.
Nicola Brown hit an unbeaten 33 off 22 balls to further add misery to Pakistan for NZ to finish 373/7.
Pakistan went about the massive task, putting on the best opening partnership against New Zealand at this World Cup,, 42 before Nicola Browne had Bismah Mahroof caught by Katey Martin for 14.
Browne cleaned out Ismavia Iqbal and Lucy Doolan tweaked out Armann Khan, at drinks Pakistan 59/3 off 19 overs.
Pakistan continued to value their time at The World Cup, opener Nain Abidi hunkered down and scored an excellent fifty off 100 balls before being bowled by Doolan, who finished with 3/30 off her ten overs.
Pakistan .were all out on the first ball of the 49th....a NZ win by 223 more importantly a finals berth for The World cup 2009.
