Age is clearly no obstacle for 68-year-old George Doniger, who today arrived on the Sunshine Coast on day three of the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans’ MothersMilkBank Currumbin to Cairns Charity Ride.
Dongier said he felt ‘sensational’ after completing the first 300kms of the tough 1800km journey, even arriving at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast earlier than expected this afternoon.
Doniger will travel from Coolum to Gympie tomorrow on day four of the Charity Ride.
“I feel sensational, I’m having a great time,’’ he said.
“We hit a bit of rain but it was a good day because there was a strong southerly behind us.
“We got to Coolum an hour earlier than anticipated.’’
The former rugby league caller has been making the most of the scenery along the way, stopping to take photos at Kangaroo Point, the Storey Bridge and on the Old Hornibrook Highway Bridge to Redcliffe.
Doniger hopes the Charity Ride will raise $50,000 for the MothersMilkBank, which desperately needs funding to help set up a new community milk bank building on the Gold Coast.
The primary role of the MothersMilkBank is to provide pasteurised donor human milk to mothers who are unable to breastfeed.
