HOHAIA AND MATULINO TO MISS NEXT FEW GAMES FOR VODAFONE WARRIORS

– Knee ligament damage will sideline Vodafone Warriors utility Lance Hohaia for three to six weeks while second rower Ben Matulino’s ankle injury will keep him out of NRL action for the next two to three weeks.
Vodafone Warriors doctor John Mayhew said a scan today revealed Hohaia had ruptured the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Saturday night’s 26-18 win over Parramatta at Mount Smart Stadium.
Coming off the bench, Hohaia (25) was on the field just 19 minutes but scored a try either side of halftime before being forced off with his knee complaint.
Mayhew said Hohaia would not need surgery and would be expected to be available again before the end of April.
Matulino (20), who lasted only 14 minutes against the Eels, didn’t require a scan on a high sprain of his right ankle. Mayhew said further assessment of the injury today indicated he would probably be available again in either the fourth or fifth round of the competition.
The Vodafone Warriors travel to Sydney on Saturday to take on defending champions the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval on Sunday afternoon. The team for the match will be announced tomorrow afternoon.
