WHITE FERNS BREAK RECORDS IN ICC WOMEN'S WORLD CUP, BATES AND TIFFEN GET TONS

Thursday March 19th.

The second wicket partnership between White Fern Captain Haidee Tiffen and 21 year old Dunedin student Suzie Bates had scorers reaching for their record books in The White Ferns match with Pakistan at Drummoyne Oval.

Suzie Bates fell in the 40th over her score 168 in 105 balls, 19 fours and six 6's...this is the highest New Zealand individual score at a World cup and this innings sits behind England's Charlotte Edwards of 173 no and Australia's Belinda Clark's 229 no against Denmark in India on the all time highest totals.

Bates's hundred was off 81 balls and her 150 off 99 deliveries, this her second ODI ton after getting 122 against India in March 2007.

Bates was eventually caught on the long on boundary off Sana Mir's right arm spin bowling in the 40th over..., the White Fern's second wicket partnership between Tiffen and Bates...now in the history books stands at 262 off 210 balls in 130 minutes....

Along the way Tiffen and Bates broke the New Zealand second wicket partnership,[170] ,The Highest New Zealand partnership [180] in ODI Cricket.

Opener Kate Pulford scored 24 before being caught behind, Sara McGlashan LBW for 11,Aimee Mason LBW for 5.

All through this time, White Ferns Captain and opener Haidee Tiffen was anchoring The Kiwi innings and today she recorded her maiden ODI hundred off 127 balls with three boundaries, Tiffen debuted in 1998/98, her previous best..... 91...v Australia in 1995, this was her 116th match for her country.

Tiffen was out for 100 in the 46th over White Ferns 329/5..at the completion of the 50 overs the White Ferns had amassed 373 with Nicola Browne unbeaten on 33 off 22 balls 2 fours and 2 6's in her innings
