HOHAIA AND MATULINO NOT EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR CLASH AGAINST MANLY

Utility Lance Hohaia and second rower Ben Matulino aren’t expected to be available for the Vodafone Warriors’ second-round NRL clash against defending premiers the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval in Sydney next Sunday.

Matulino (20) was forced off the field with a left ankle sprain after only 14 minutes of last night’s season-opening 26-18 win over Parramatta at Mount Smart Stadium.

And interchange dummy half Hohaia, injected into the game in the 30th minute, was sidelined with a right knee sprain after only 19 minutes on the field. In that time he scored a try almost immediately after coming into the game and another two minutes into the second half.

The extent of the injuries and the length of time the two players will be out for won’t be fully established until early in the week. Hohaia will have a scan in the next day or two to further assess his injury but Matulino doesn’t need a scan at this stage.

However, neither player is likely to be available for selection for next Sunday’s clash against Manly.

The Vodafone Warriors will fly to Sydney next Saturday.
